Timothy | Davies

About

Timothy James Davies (born 1977) started his musical career at the age of seven in the Sulzbach Youth Choir. After a brief spell playing the recorder, he began piano lessons.

In 1998 Tim's classical training (piano / classical guitar / drums and percussion) took him to Coventry University in England, where he studied Music Composition and Professional Practice. The course, with its focus on finding "one's own voice", gave Tim the opportunity to explore various different musical styles - from serial / 12 tone music, jazz, classical to pop music.

Another very important aspect of the course was the collaboration with the theatre and dance departments. Here he was given the chance to compose music for various plays, shows and dance productions.

With fellow students at university Tim formed and played electric bass for the Indie/rock band "The Naked Horse".  The group enjoyed considerable success throughout the West Midlands.

After successfully completing his BA(Hons) degree in 2001, Tim moved to London where he started working at BonaFideStudio as chief engineer, composer, producer and session musician, playing piano, guitar, bass and percussion.

While at the studio, his discography/production output was considerable, notably the Spanish metal band xxx, Icelandic singer/songwriter Linda Kaufmann and The London Indie band, The Lazybirds.

In 2003 Tim moved back to Frankfurt, Germany, where he was employed as an engineer at pearls-music, an audio post-production studio with a strong focus on advertising. Here his work span covered radio commercials, art projects, tv productions up to 5.1 (surround) and productions for the cinema.

A year after joining the studio Tim was promoted to senior engineer.

Following a long absence from performing live music, Tim joined forces with his friend Fitzkarraldo Floyd to form the band zoona. In 2007 they released their debut album called "love, hate, revenge and life itself".

2015 Tim became CEO of pearls-music and today is the chief music composer at the studio.
